Turnstone Estates has added Kervan Kitchen Restaurant Group to the line-up of operators at its £65 million leisure development in Colchester. The news follows deals with Cineworld, Fastned, Travelodge, Hollywood Bowl, Puttstars, Jump Street, Greggs and Wendy’s.
The announcement is another major boost for the scheme, which will deliver 200,000 sq ft of leisure space within Colchester Borough Council’s Northern Gateway, located south of Junction 28 of the A12.
Kervan Kitchen was established in 2018 and is a casual dining restaurant offering authentic Turkish cuisine. It has three additional sites across Essex: Gidea Park; Brentwood, and Basildon. The tenant has signed a 25-year lease without a break on a 6,000 sq ft store. Work is expected to start on site in the New Year.
Chris Goldsmith, Managing Director of Turnstone Estates, said: “Kervan Kitchen is a strong regional restaurant group with a loyal following and complements the wider offer at Colchester. We welcome them to the scheme and are delighted that work will be starting on site very shortly.”
Savas Firat and Maggie Themistocli, founders of Kervan Kitchen, commented: “We are delighted to be joining the Northern Gateway Scheme and are committed to delivering amazing, authentic Turkish food to our customers. With local jobs for local people at the forefront of our mission too, we look forward to bright future in Colchester!”
The Turnstone Estates’ scheme for the Leisure Park forms part of the wider Northern Gateway development delivered by Colchester Borough Council and its Colchester Amphora companies. This also includes the recently opened Northern Gateway Sports Park and the forthcoming 350 new homes, healthcare hub, and 45,100 sqm of commercial floorspace. The whole development will benefit from an integral digital network providing ultra-fast broadband to local homes and businesses.
Cllr Sue Lissimore, Portfolio Holder for Resources and Deputy Leader of the Council said: “I warmly welcome Kervan Kitchen to the exciting line-up of restaurants and eateries coming to the Northern Gateway Leisure Park. This quality restaurant brand is unique to the county and adds to the diverse mix of food and leisure opportunities that will be available to the public. We’d love to hear from other regional food enterprises keen to build their presence in north Essex.”
